The diabetes education centre provides education and support to adults with diabetes and their families. We provide information about staying healthy with diabetes.
For information on our youth diabetes services, please visit our children’s program page.
Our services include the following: Education programs: in our individual and group sessions, we provide education on healthy food choices, healthy weight, regular exercise, diabetes medication, monitoring of blood sugars, sick day guidelines and strategies to achieve and maintain good blood sugar control.
Insulin initiation: we offer information on insulin administration and adjustment for those starting on insulin and those needing adjustments to current insulin routines.
Insulin pump therapy: we show patients how to use their insulin pumps and adjust their insulin usage. Learning how to manage diabetes and making appropriate decisions can help individuals prevent or delay the long-term complications that can affect heart, eyes, feet, kidneys and the nervous system.
