As part of GRH's commitment to those we serve, we are publishing our 2012/13 Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and report of our progress of our 2011/12 QIP. Our QIP outlines our accountability to our community, patients and staff to create a positive patient experience and deliver high quality health care. With this plan, we are able to identify our areas of improvement and monitor our performance. In March 2012, the Grand River Hospital Board of Directors approved the 2012/13 GRH Quality Improvement Plan and 2011/12 QIP Report. The QIP consists of a narrative report that provides a brief overview of our quality improvement plan, highlighting and listing our hospital’s top priorities for the year and a spreadsheet that includes our improvement targets and initiatives. The spreadsheet includes nine indicators that GRH will focus on in 2012/13. The Excellent Care For All Act requires that the compensation of the CEO and other executives be linked to the achievement of performance improvement targets indentified in the QIP. At GRH, executives are eligible to receive up to 10% of annual salary as an at-risk component of which 50% is related to the achievement of the quality plan for the hospital.
Terms:
- The nine outcome measures/indicators are equally weighted;
- The indicators apply equally to all executives;
- Priority 1 targets must be achieved for a full incentive payout; and
- Where a metric is based on a statistical sample the result will include a confidence interval.

In compliance to the Excellent Care for All Act, 2010 (ECFFA), all hospitals are required to post QIPs annually on April 1st to the public and to submit the report to the Health Quality Ontario for review.
