Patients sometimes need to be admitted to the inpatient oncology unit at the hospital for their treatment or because of the side effects related to their treatment or cancer. The length of stay will depend on the needs of each patient.
The inpatient oncology is located on the AB wings on floor six of Grand River Hospital’s KW Site with access to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre.
The inpatient oncology unit has a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, specialized oncology nurses, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, CCAC, dietitians and diet technicians, a spiritual care provider and clerical support. This team meets daily to discuss each patient’s plan of care.
Visiting hours are between 1:30pm and 8:30pm everyday. If you have a special request, please speak to one of the nurses on 6AB. Visitors are limited to no more than two people at a time. Visitors who are feeling unwell or experiencing cold or flu like symptoms must not visit. Plants, flowers, perfumes and pets are not allowed for infection control reasons.
The inpatient oncology unit may be reached at 519-749-4300, ext. 2175.
