Interventional procedures

Grand River Hospital operates an interventional suite in its medical imaging department on the second floor of the hospital’s KW Site, 835 King Street West in Kitchener.

The interventional suite acts as a support system to several programs within Grand River Hospital as well as other hospitals and facilities within the community.

For example:
  • The interventional suite supports the dialysis program with the insertion of dialysis catheters and subsequent maintenance. Grafts and fistulas that are surgically placed can be evaluated through angiograms and malfunctions corrected by procedures such as angioplasty;
  • Oncology referrals may include central line placements and palliative care procedures; and
  • Vascular studies are performed to assess circulation problems or serve as a work-up pre-operatively.
All procedures will require complete medical histories and informed consents. Contrast media injections may be required.
