Geoff Bellew was elected as Chair of Grand River Hospital’s Board of Directors in June 2015.
Geoff Bellew is a business executive with over 40 years' experience in the financial services, technology and consulting services industries. He has extensive business skills at senior executive levels and has served in a senior executive capacity with Scotiabank, Manulife, ING, Aegon, Dspfactory, Mechworks Systems; and most recently at Bridgeway Foundation, where he served as President and CEO at Southbridge, guiding the active investment assets of the Bridgeway Foundation. Geoff currently serves as a Senior Strategic Advisor at Communitech. In this capacity he actively supports the creation of sustainable collaborative cluster building activities within the area of commercialization of data services, big data and analytics technologies, and provides account and relationship management services for a range of small and medium sized technology-centric Communitech business members.
Geoff is also a Director and Vice Chair of Lutheran Homes KW (Trinity Village) Board, and serves as Director and Past Chair of FaithLife Financial Board and is also a Director of FI Capital Board, a capital investment management company - a wholly owned subsidiary of FaithLife Financial.
Geoff has an MBA from University of Toronto.
Geoff is an active community volunteer. Over the past two decades, he has served many not-for-profit and faith-based organizations including being a past Director of the Board of Waterloo Public Library and served full terms on the Boards of Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region and its National HFH Canada Board. Geoff is also an active mentor for young entrepreneur start-ups via the ASCent social enterprise program and the Futurepreneur National programs. In business and in the community, Geoff has established himself as a passionate, trustworthy, creative and responsible collaborator.
Geoff's strength in community engagement and collaborative partnership building, along with his previous experience as Chair of Grand River Hospital's Quality and Patient Safety and Community Engagement Committees, will support him in his role as Board Chair of Grand River Hospital.
Grand River Hospital’s Board includes 19 directors of the corporation, 12 of whom are elected for three-year terms. The GRH Board includes representation from the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo. Members of the board include individuals with a wide range of private and community expertise, who volunteer their time to lead the governance of Grand River Hospital.
