For anyone who has lived with a diagnosis of cancer, or has supported a friend or loved one, you know the toll that the illness can carry. The added burden that comes from travelling to and from appointments is immeasurable. Community cancer clinics across the region allow patients to receive some of their care (which may include chemotherapy) closer to home.
These locations include:
- Cambridge Memorial Hospital
- Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus)
- Guelph General Hospital
- Louise Marshall Hospital (Mount Forest)
We care for patients with a variety of cancers, but due to the complexity of certain cancers, some patients may be referred to another cancer centre.
The impact that this program has on patients’ quality of life is tremendous. We’ve been able to greatly decrease hours of travel and provide access to high quality, evidence-based care close to home.
