Family Day weekend brings new cancer treatment equipment to GRH

The Family Day weekend saw the arrival of new cancer treatment at GRH's regional cancer centre.
The new linear accelerator is part of a $5.42 million investment into expanding cancer care services in Waterloo Region.

After a long journey from California, GRH’s new linear accelerator arrived.
The specialized equipment provides radiation therapy for cancer patients.
When it opened in 2003, GRH’s cancer centre had two linear accelerators… with room to expand.
This new unit will be the fifth linear accelerator for cancer centre.
The Government of Ontario through Cancer Care Ontario is paying for the equipment.
Generous donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation will pay for renovations.
After installation and testing, the new unit will provide care for patients this spring.
