Advanced trauma life support training in action

The Family Day weekend offered no rest for 24 emergency physicians as they brushed up their skills on trauma life support.

GRH’s KW Campus played host to the physicians, 13 of whom were from the GRH and St. Mary’s General Hospital medical staff.

The 10 hour days were packed with lectures and practice stations followed by intense testing through a written exam and hands on practical scenarios.

The "patients" included six volunteer high school students who were sons and daughters of GRH nurses and doctors. They were made up to represent very realistic trauma victims.

Waterloo and Wellington patients and families can count on having highly knowledgeable and motivated physicians providing them the best care when they need it the most.

Thank you to educator registered nurse Jane Foster from GRH’s emergency department for her huge role in organizing this weekend.
