Local hospitals jointly issue vaccine mandate for all staff, volunteers and contractors
September 1, 2021Effective October, 12, staff, physicians, students, volunteers and contractors working at and with local hospitals will be required to be fully vaccinated. Staff who do not meet this will be placed on leave without pay and given a short window into early-November to meet the policy.

Over the last 19 months, staff at all Waterloo Region hospitals partnered to continually shift, pivot, adjust and re-adjust to accommodate new information, needs, practices and priorities, and support regional COVID-19 efforts, collaboratively.

July 26, 2021GRH, with the Region of Waterloo Public Health have declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on 6 South (6S), part of our surgical program. Two patients have been identified with a potential third. No staff have been impacted.

July 19, 2021Grand River Hospital has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on ICUA out of an abundance of caution. Three staff have been identified and are self-isolating. No patients have been impacted.
As a precautionary measure, GRH is reviewing two unrelated COVID-19 staff cases in ICUA as a potential outbreak investigation
