Social Work 1
The Specialized Mental Health team

In Ontario, March 7-11 marks Social Work Week and the theme this year is: “#MoreThanEver Mental Health Access for All."

We would like to recognize the significant contributions all of our social workers at GRH for the positive impact they have on our patients and their families. They offer important assessment, counselling and interventions that positively impact quality of life.

With over 70 social workers at GRH, social workers are present in settings across the health care continuum, providing services to individuals and families throughout the lifespan, and addressing the full range of bio-psychosocial issues that impact well-being.

Social workers play a critical role in advocating for patients and policies that reduce health disparities and improve access to health care, especially for vulnerable populations. During the pandemic social workers are in a unique position to navigate systems, promote disease prevention efforts, and to help address anxiety and other concerns that are arising as a result of this public health crisis.

Social workers are an essential member of the health care team and have excelled in finding new ways to support and nurture patients throughout the pandemic.
