KITCHENER, ON - Grand River Hospital (GRH) has been recognized as one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers for 2023 by Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizers of the annual Canada's Top 100 Employers competition.

This designation was earned through GRH’s commitment to;

  • Maintain programming to support the mental health and well-being of employees through mental health awareness workshops, sessions on managing burnout and compassion fatigue, free subscriptions to the Calm app – and a mental health benefit of up to $1,500 annually.
  • Cultivating a family-friendly culture with maternity leave top-up payments for new mothers, fathers and adoptive parents, and the option to extend parental leaves into unpaid leaves of absence -- also providing fertility drug subsidies, if needed.

“We believe creating a workplace that team members love is essential to the delivery of a world class health care experience,” says Jennifer O’Brien, Vice-President, People, Communication and Engagement at Grand River Hospital. “By prioritizing our team members’ work-life balance, mental health and wellbeing, we know it will enhance the care we provide and patient experience, and ensure that we are attracting, developing and retaining the most talented team members.”

Grand River Hospital is also proud to be recognized as one of Forbes 2022 Canada’s Best Employer as the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, 2002 (50+ employees), and one of Canada’s Top Employers for recent graduates by The Career Directory 2023.
