We have a 60-bed inpatient unit for patients who require a stay after a surgery as part of their recovery. This unit is located on the sixth floor in the D wing at Grand River Hospital’s KW Campus at 835 King Street West in Kitchener.

Post-operative care is provided by nurses and physicians. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pain service staff, dietitians, wound care staff, social work staff and spiritual care staff will be involved as required.

A plan of care will be developed to help you recover from your surgery quickly and safely. We are happy to share this information with you and designated family members.

A Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) case manager may meet with you and your family if concerns about discharge home arise.

Visiting

After surgery, rest is an important part of your recovery. We welcome visitors between the hours of 1:30 and 8:30 pm. Out of respect for all patients on the unit, we ask that only two visitors are at your bedside at a time. Special considerations may be made upon request, please speak with the charge nurse on the unit.
