We have a number of care and support services to help patients at specialized mental health as well as their families. Here's a brief look at some of them...

Shared recovery planning

The shared recovery plan is a helpful tool that you use to identify your goals and services you may need. The team will help you complete and review this plan with you and others you may identify i.e. family, a support person.

Peer navigator

A peer navigator has a lived experience with a mental health issue and knows what it is like. They are here to help you by offering practical advice, emotional support, information and resources. They cannot make decisions about your care but will connect you with staff who can help with these types of issues. You can call the peer navigator at 519-749-4300 ext. 7214 or 7423 or ask a staff member.

Going outside of the unit

You may have times to go off the unit. Your doctor, your care team and you will make that decision to support returning to normal activities and to see how your might do when you leave the hospital.

Groups and program

You are encouraged to participate in groups and activities that are discussed between you and your treatment team.

Other activities

Other activities are available for you include such things as fitness room, ping pong table, games, puzzles, movie nights, computer/internet, Wii/DVD player

Snacks and meals

Meals are eaten in the cafeteria served cafeteria style, except under special circumstances.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are available free of charge. Please bring your own laundry soap.

Telephone calls

Inpatient rooms do not have telephones. Pay phones are available for local calls. Please ask where the nearest phone is located. Please ask a team member about receiving calls.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours take place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

You are welcome to visit in common areas of the unit, but please arrange visits at a time that will not interfere with your group program and treatment.

In certain circumstances, staff may restrict visitors.
